Yeah this thing was just a cool idea on paper. With steam, psn, and xboxlive around its impossible to have something like this.
On the old forum we use to post at i mentioned something about the controller being third party wii u. I didnt think much of it until i noticed our fye in our mall was trying to get rid of a case of them for like 5.99 each.
On another note guys, we'll never see the retro vgs but has it ever crossed your mind that we'll see some kind of new system in the future?

The only other system I would support in a heart beat would be the Dreamcast 2, or any other kind of effort Sega made to get back into hardware.

The thing that pisses me off about the podcast video is how they say the Retro VGS guys where too focused on cashing in on the collector market. It pisses me off because I believe they are absolutely right, and I fell for it. Although I didn't back the campaign I still feel a little scorned. People don't use sex to sell products anymore, they use nostalgia and business is good.

We can move on though and now we are more the wiser.

Yeah when brandon first showed me the retro vgs i got pretty sold on it at first but when we started seeing nothing but what color you can buy it in and no actual console to show then i started to have my doubts. It would have been cool but i say everyone just invest in the games that are true retro.

Looks like Ian and Pat did a follow up video. In it they say they received some not so professional emails from the heads of the VGS project because of their last podcast. Definitely doesn't say a lot for the future of this thing even if they started doing things right:

Wow Ian was really drunk in that one. I'm sort of starting to warm up to these guys. Trying to get past my judgement of Ian being a know it all and Pat just being full of himsefl and his collection.

Who the hell is this Frank guy on Pat's channel? Frank is Pats Flea Market buddy. Although he has no interest in video games at all. He actually gives a lot of outsider opinions about game collecting that are interesting to say the least because sometimes we can be blind to the craziness of this hobbie.

Pat is a really nice dude in person! I met him at a show a couple months back, very personable and friendly guy. I met a lot of the Retroware guys there (Gaming Historian, Game Chasers, AlphaOmegaSin, 8 Bit Eric) and despite the way they may rub people online they were all decent dudes in person. Especially Norm, took the time to talk to me about baseball!

He has grown on me a lot though recently and I agree, he seems like a very nice dude. He reviews games much like I do, he always tries to find the good in a game instead of focusing on its flaws.

Pat seems like a nice bloke, but he condemns "shelf collectors" a lot when he himself has a colossal hoard. I heard him say in a podcast hes barely played any Master System games even though he actually has a full set for it. To me thats taking out 114 games out of the hands of genuine fans of the system, which considering its hard to come by a lot of those games out here in North America is a real shame.
