I'll bet my youngest son would absolutely love this. He's 4 and he can get about half way through Sonic 2 but I think he would still appreciate this. Too bad none of us will ever get to experience it in the actual car machine

Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom has released on the Apple store and will be coming out soon for Android (though if you dig around on the net you can find and install it early )

New footage of an early version Sonic homebrew game in development currently showing off a 'mode 7' type thing for the Mega Drive:
If you appreciate the tech side of the system you will know the scaling is super impressive without using the Sega CD hardware.

This is super cool, wonder if it's done by the same people who did the F-Zero port for Genesis/MD? Although the F-Zero footage I've seen doesn't look as good as this. Very impressive.

Awesome! I'll be checking that out when they're done with it.
As I understand it the Genesis is fully capable of the mode 7 rendering but you have to basically program it from the ground up. The reason it was so prevalent in SNES games was because it was included as a common feature of the dev kits/software.
I'm sure you guys have seen this, but here's a proof of concept video someone did of Star Fox running on the Genesis without the help of the SVP. The frame rate is pretty choppy, but just imagine if this was put on one of the SVP carts.

75% off sale on all the Blue Blur games on steam currently. Wouldnt recommend getting the genesis stuff as you can just emulate although the Sonic CD is the updated version that is supposedly superior to the SegaCD version. Also All-star Racing Transformed is incredible for Sega fanboys if you havent already played it. The last level is basically a love letter to Sega's history and has a remixed version of the unmistakeably best arcade soundtrack of all time (Space Harrier). Sorry I'm gushing. Heres a link: store.steampowered.com/sale/sonic/
