Basically tell us some games you think other members should look at considering buying before some big youtuber tells everyone how cool they are and the price doubles etc. My 1st pick is Lightening Force (aka Thunder Force 4) for the Genesis I picked this up a few months ago loose for about 15-20 dollars from just an average retrogame shop so I'm guessing the online price is about the same. Holy cow though is this a fun shmup. It has about 10 levels which you can blast through pretty quickly in maybe just under an hour if you use the 99 lives cheat (and you will probably want to). The music is classic heavy synth that makes the genny sound so cool and the graphics are pretty enough for a space based shooter. Its not just space though you fly through volcanoes and across oceans just to mix things up a bit. So tell us a game you have or want thats pretty cheap right now but think will rise. Doesnt matter what system.

Great thread topic! if you like pinball games grab Dragon's Fury (Devil Crash on Mega Drive?) by Tengen. It's a port of the expensive Turbo 16 game Devil Crush by Naxat. It's plays about the way you would expect a 16-bit pinball game would and the soundtrack is awesome. I grabbed a loose copy for $5.00 a couple weeks ago but I've seen the price going up recently. I imagine it's just because people have figured out its a cheaper way to get Devil Crush.

Haven't shelled out for the original yet as cant decide to pay extra and get the original PC Engine one or not. Definitely a great one to for the list though.

Revenge is fun but now that I've played both I think Fury is way better. Although here in the states they removed all the devil stuff, pentagrams, crosses stuff like that. Our squishy American brains just can't handle it. Could you imagine if they had not removed them!? Ha ha, I wonder if they removed them from the PAL version?

My 2nd pick is one that I have actually noticed go up maybe 5-10 bucks in the last year or so since I got but its still a good price for the hours youll get out of it. That being the arcade perfect port of After burner 2 on the 32X. Goes for 20-25 dollars. See here for price details. I think this is for the simple fact that the 32X isnt that obscure now thanks to people like AVGN talking about it a lot (even if negatively) and its one of the 10 or so games that are any good on the system.

Cool thread. Well, I find when a prominent Youtube personality does a video highlighting a game in a positive light it almost always jumps in price (see: Truxton, most recently Jackie Chan action Kung Fu with AVGN) I know Norm the Gaming Historian is planning a video on Ristar on Sega Genesis, so if anyone plans on getting that game I recommend sooner than later.
Some other stuff I could see going up in value at some point:
Rocket Knight Adventures Sunset Riders
With Konami pretty much done with games people might feel nostalgic and go back looking into their previous releases. These two, while not exactly cheap, are INCREDIBLE games, and much cheaper than other stuff comparable on the system. People might soon discover how awesome these are and demand will go up. I was surprised Rocket Knight didn't go up when the re-master was released on XBL/PSN, but I feel like one is coming at some point. Too good to be a 20$ game.

That might actually be another great thread topic: why the hell isn't this game expensive? Rocket Knight, EarthWorm Jim, Dynamite Headdy all good examples. I've already mentioned it before but that's one of the reasons I love collecting for the Genesis, sooooo many great titles dirt cheap. FistoftheWind made a good point in another thread that this might be coming to an end once the Console Wars movie releases.

I havnt heard anymore on the console wars movie but your right its gonna impact the retro collecting by triple.
We talked about it before on other treads but supposedly konami is cookin up some kind of plans with their retro games. If it turns out to be mobile releases or some kind of collection itd be a good idea to get what konami titles their is before they go up. Where RARE released their collection battletoads games and merch has doubled.

I may have mentioned this before, but you can get most PS2 games for pretty cheap nowadays. I've picked them up for just a little over a dollar a piece, used, especially pinball games. Decent RPG's and racing games are still going to run you a bit more, though, even with PS2 games.

You can find PS2 games on Amazon still sealed. Guess they've just been sitting in a warehouse for ages...

Along with After Burner II, Space Harrier for the 32X is a near perfect port of the arcade game and a must have for a 32X owner. I've never seen this game in the wild so I had to take to eBay to obtain my copy and if you have to go that route be patient! While the price on this game can be a bit ridiculous if you keep an eye on it you can snag a copy anywhere from $10-$20. Problem is, they don't last long once listed so if you decide to go after it keep a close eye on new listings.

FistoftheWind made a good point in another thread that this might be coming to an end once the Console Wars movie releases. The answer is that one of the major Youtubers hasn't done a dedicated video about them yet. I think the youngsters literally get all of their information from AVGN, Game Grumps, and Pat the NES Punk (Frank is his lover, I just know it). I'm astonished that Beyond Oasis isn't more expensive than it is. Bio Hazard Battle is an awesome shmup that's still flying under the radar right now. If you can find it cheaper, Crying is the Japanese title. There's literally no story text in the game and all the menus and everything are in english. Streets of Rage 1 and 2 are still a really common cheapo flea market find. I'm not sure why 3 has exploded since that seems to be everyone's least favorite. X-Men 2 clone wars is still pretty cheap though it's climbing up there. Star Wars Arcade for 32X is still cheap but you might consider it with the new movie on the way. That tends to make all the retro Star Wars titles fluctuate.

All of those extremely good examples! I gotta grab Bio Hazard, it's a great Shmup that also tries to be a little different which are usually my favorites. SoR3 is expensive? Lol, guess I've never really checked eBay prices on it. Your right, that does seem to be everyone's least favorite so that is strange. I've never checked out the prices on Beyond Oasis because I just always assumed it was a $40-$60 game, seeing it so cheap really moved it up on the wish list. You've suggested this game to me many times and now might be the time to pull the trigger on it.

Ive noticed a few bigger youtubers talking about the PC Engine lately which makes my heart sink a little every time as I just got into it about 6 months ago. I know its selfish and I dont really know how much affect youtubers have on game prices but I've definitely seen hype double and triple prices with games like Musha and Truxton in not a long space of time. Not that the PCEngine is super cheap anyway now but the prices for the english equivalent turbo games are beyond ridiculous Anyway I picked up Golden Axe 3 recently which was a Jap only release. Not the best Golden Axe by any means but you can still get it in good condition and cheaper than even the incredibly common first 2 games on the Genesis. Also another Japan game (I'm big into Japan right now since the CAD to US is awful) is their version of Dynamite Headdy. Goes for around the same price as the US version but its a lot easier and the bosses are way different. Only downside is the box and label art are... well you decide:

Are you referring to "Happy Console Gamer"? God that guy is obnoxious. Worse than Mike Matei.
