Love the Phantasy Star franchise? Still can't get enough of leveling up your PSO/PSZ characters on GC/Dreamcast/XBox/PSP/DS, etc.? Excited at the prospect of PSO2 possibly kinda-sorta-maybe making it out of Japan? Or do you prefer to chat about the Phantasy Star Universe games? Whatever your favorite(s), this is the thread to discuss all things Phantasy Star! As for myself, I love PSO on GC, PSZ for DS, and I played PSU on PS2 and PSP offline. PSO for GC is truly my game though. For whatever reason, FistoftheWind and I tend to make nearly identical characters, although most of his characters are redheads and mine usually have black or purple hair, ha ha. As I've mentioned, my favorite class is probably Hunter, although I love to be the Force in a group, too. As for PSU, I definitely prefer the fighting class as a Cast. I especially love the PSP version. So, how about you other Phantasy Star fans out there, what's your take on the series?

That would be awesome! I wish we could team up on PSO, you could be my spotter and also shoot down all the traps for me while I slash and hack away at the enemies, ha ha. It's a fun solo game, of course, but better in a group. Did you get your RAmar OR HUcast to Ult?

To be honest i cant remember. If fist still has our memory cards i would love to check oneday. Its been like 10 years since i last looked at my characters. I can remember my class and names and thats it. I cant even remember what kind of little floating thing i had or what those things are even called lol.

Yeah, Fist and I have played PSO together a couple times in the past year, but we've played PSZ more than anything, leveling up our HUmarls. The floating thing is a mag on PSO (most of my mags are Sato's, but I have some Savitri types and others), partner machinery on PSU.

Wonder how expensive PSO for GameCube is nowadays, I've had my eye on a CIB copy for XBox but I actually might get it for GameCube for future game nights. I've watched ppl play it but never tried it myself, I'll be changing that in 2016!

That would be awesome, Brandon! We need to make our own homebrew server and have some PSO gaming nights, ha ha. Which we could game at Fist's house or whatever, but 4-way screen kinda blows for that. But I'm sure we could all make it work if need be.

It looks like PSO for GC is going anywhere from $30 - $60+, wow. You can get C.A.R.D. Revolution for as cheap as $4, but that doesn't surprise me - last I heard, it doesn't hold up well on private servers unless the hosts know what they're doing and get it to work right, which is a challenge even for the best of 'em. At any rate, Fist always told me to go for the PSO Ep. 1 & 2 Plus version, which had some bug fixes, so I hope that helps when you go to look for it, Brandon.

The GameCube is SO expensive to collect for! That sucks being it's probably my favorite Nintendo console. I'll keep my eye out but I may just have to go the Xbox route, I'm watching a CIB copy for $8 w/free shipping so if it's still there this payday I'm pulling the trigger.

Wow that sounds like a pretty good deal, the last copy i saw was at the flea from that gaming booth thats never open and i want to say they had like $10 to $15 on it but whats bad about them is about 75% of their inventory looks like it was rained on or something at one point. Alot of their games have bad water damage on them.

You're definitely right about that, Brandon - you can't even find Mario Kart for GC for less than $19, unless you're super lucky, and I think that's crazy. But yeah, GC was definitely a good system, for sure. That's weird, fr0zenbeast. I'm not sure I've come across that seller, but I wonder how bad the water damage affects the games, if it's only the packaging .... but I'd probably worry about mold and junk too. Ew.

I'm all about some PSO game nights for sure! One of my memory cards has a yellow HUcast on it made by Fr0zen so there's that. Before seeking out the Xbox version, make sure there are multiplayer options on it. The Gamecube has offline split screen for up to 4 players. Also not that cross platform play between the consoles is not possible if we all were to try and get into playing on a home brew server. If anyone wants to do Phantasy Star Zero game nights, that game is still pretty cheap and works on any Nintendo DS version. I did a review on it actually, if you want to weigh it on your decision to get PSO ep 1 & 2 or not superradarcade.blogspot.com/2012/11/phantasy-star-zero.htmlNote that you can no longer play it online either, just offline multiplayer since nintendo took down their original WFC service.

I actually did play PSO on the private server with Dreamcast and PC players, but I'm not sure that XBox crosses over well ... I'll post back if I can find out anything about that. PSZ would be great for us all to play, no split screen or anything, we'd all have our own views on DS/3DS, and plus we wouldn't have to "fight" over drops, haha.
