I see people selling these things everywhere and I gotta admit they look pretty cool especially as a key chain or lanyard. Have any of you ever created ones of your own before? Its something I'm thinking about getting into. Share some you have found that you like too.

I've never made or had any of the perler bead sprites but i have messed around with qixels lol. Incase your wondering qixels is a kids toy creation set where you can make all kinds of sprites.
My son got the deluxe set with two starter packs. I guess your suppose to make knock off minecraft sprites or 8-bit sprites. Its real easy all you do is get your layout, place beads in the colored areas, then when your done you sray it and drain the excess water and let it set for 20 min and its done. I dont know what these beads are made of but after they get wet and stick together they dont come apart! I mean yeah you really use brute force you can rip one in half but a kid playing with one being rough and such isnt gonna break it. After i made my son some sprites i had fun making one for myself lol.

When they are still wet yes they are extremely sticky, but after about 20 to 30 minutes they feel like they did before they got wet. You dont get very big templates to work with but if you look hard enough you can find smaller sprite templates to fit them. Small mario was easy to do but it was cuttin close to not fitting. If i get more beads i might do dig dug or something next lol.

Do you have to order these online or do places like walmart carry them?

I actually made my first Perler Bead Sprites the other day with my Daughter. We had a great time doing it and as soon as I get some more colors to work with I'm gonna try some of the more complicated 16-bit sprites!

I've never actually made my own sprites, but I have a complete set of Robot Masters, Mega Man, Proto Man, Rush, Roll, Dr. Light, and Dr. Wily that a friend made for me. They're scattered about the kid's playroom at the moment but I'll try to gather them all up for a picture. He also made this huge one for me:

Here are the two I've made so far. I want to make more but I can't find any good bead colors anywhere. There always neon or something else crazy. You guys know where I could get some? I've already checked Wal*Mart, Target and that Hobbie place beside Target. I would love to make those FF6 sprites for Digger if I can just find some good assortment of colors.

Dude i love the scrooge lol. I would actually like to start making them myself but i dont have a clue where to buy them either. I bet Michaels would have all sorts of colors, they're so expensive though on everything.

I've seen them at Michaels, Ross even a mom and pops pottery place. Pretty much anywhere that sells crafty stuff. I think this stuff has gotten popular enough for everyone to start carrying them.

Yeah I've found them at several places as well, just wish I could find someone with a large selection of colors. For some reason it's always pastels and neons. That's fine but I'm in desperate need of base colors for a lot of these sprites. I wonder if Perler has an actual website you can buy stuff from?

Yeah they need a distribution machine with all the colors so you can get as much of what you need. Like those Jelly Belly set ups haha.

Actually check out amazon. They have bags of 1000 single color beads for 4 to 5 bucks on amazon prime. Get specifically any color you need.
