So yesterday i picked up rare replay for the xbox one. It maybe a modern game but its jammed packed with retro goodness!!! Currently im switching back and forth between original battletoads and battletoads the arcade. Im very impressed with this collection, Rare actually put alot of work into this instead of making just some rom/emulator type collection game.

That's always nice to hear when a company releases a collection that isnt just some emulator and a roms folder. How many games are in the collection? I had no idea there was a battle toads arcade game either! What is it like? I cant see manyh people putting in a lot of quarters as hard as the original battle toads was.

Oh yeah i didnt know their was an arcade battletoads either til just a few years ago. Its alot of fun but like the other battletoad games its very hard! One of its best features on it is that its 3 player just like the arcade machine. I might be easier if 3 people were playin.

That's cool, I always thought the Battletoads Arcade game was the same as consoles but it's obviously a different game! That's news to me as well, lol
I'm currently working on "Light Crusader" on Genesis. Action RPG/Puzzler by Treasure. It's def not one of their more memorable games, I think it has more of a following in Europe than in the U.S. So far I'm having fun with it but I'm not a big fan of grinding anymore so as long as the gameplay stays the way it is now and they keep the save spots close I should be able to complete it. It has a pretty neat magic system and the music varies from awesome to shit, lol, I'll keep posting updates.

Had a great retro gaming weekend staying over DDogGeorge's house. We played through Golden Axe 1 & 2, Alien Storm, Captain America and the Avengers as well as some other things. Good times! As for what I'm playing on my list now, I'm still working on the Turbografx CD version of Valis III, it's a lot tougher than the Genesis version. "Sutherland" is a bit of a nightmare but I finally got through it. Gonna play more tonight.

Yeah dude it was a blast playing all those beat em ups. We may not of finished all of them but at least we took down death bringer. Dark guld's lizard army is brutal lol.
Dude i looked up that light crusader after you posted and it looks like a pretty fun game. It kinda reminds me of phantasy star mixed with beyond oasis.

I've put about an hour into it so far. It's has some flaws but it's keeping my attention, something RPGs have a hard time doing as I get older. Like I said before the game keeps a save spot usually close so being able to quit the game quickly will keep me playing longer.

For some reason in my head I'm seeing the main character of those games looking similar and I'm trying not to just go google it.

I don't think the games are related but the play style is almost identical with the asymmetric view and action RPG elements. I've heard other people make this comparison as well but I've never played Lanstalker myself.

Landstalker was pretty fun. I seem to remember it being more like an action RPG like Zelda. It was really fun and had great dungeon design. The only thing that sucked about it was the jumping parts. I guess that was just hard to do back then in asymmetric view.

The kids wanted me to play Earthworm Jim so I've found myself re-addicted to Earthworm Jim Special Edition on Sega CD. Been finding some secrets I never knew about too. Such an amazingly designed game. They just don't make them like this anymore.

I found myself thinking the same thing when I was playing thru it a few weeks ago. Such a great game. It's one of those that has me surprised ppl aren't asking an arm and leg for now. That's one of the best things about collecting for the Genesis, you can get a TON of great titles for cheap.
Played Sonic 1 and 2 over the last couple days, nothing wrong with dusting off a classic from time to time!

Sonic is like my go to stress relief series. Nothing takes me back to feeling like a kid again quite like the Genesis Sonic titles.
