My wife has a police scanner app on her phone, this allows you to listen in on local law enforcement radio chatter. About a year ago we listened to a couple of policemen talking about dozens of UFO reportings coming in from a small town about 10 minutes away from where I live. I live in a pretty conservative area in the U.S., life on other planets and UFOs aren't usual conversations you hear around here. The next day it was mentioned on the local news but only as a 30 second "fluff piece" that ended in laughter from all the anchors.

I did see the article at Nasa about their findings of evidence of flowing water in certain seasons. Very exciting! I don't think this means there are humanoid beings running around but the fact that the water is "briney" as they put it makes for a strong chance of there still being bacterial life there. Or at least thats what I interpreted out of it.

This isn't my own experience, but I was talking to a friend last week who told me about a UFO experience she had as a child.
She said that for some reason when she was around 10 years old she woke up wide awake in bed and had a weird feeling that something was going on outside. She tried to wake her parents but they wouldn't stir at all. She then for some reason went out on the front porch and out in the pasture across her house where cattle crazed she saw an orb of light hovering a few feet above the ground, just floating along. She said nothing particularly weird happened, it just kind of hovered along the ground. She knew it wasn't someone with a lantern because it was illuminating the ground all around and you would have clearly had been able to see someone holding it.
She said eventually it darted away towards the mountains, still seeming only feet above the ground, until it was out of view. After it disappeared she said she felt extremely tired again as she should have felt getting up that early at that age so she went back to bed.
Thoughts? Theories?

Pfft, swamp gas obviously.
That is an interesting story, I wonder if she felt compelled to come outside because it wanted her to see it? Kind of a unique experience considering it didn't shoot off into the sky or something like that but kept close to the ground.

What exactly does swamp gas look like and how does it behave? These days it gets thrown around as a joke to debunk UFOs and such, but there was a time and there are several reports in official government investigations naming swamp gas as a cause of more than one phenomenon. As far as my knowledge goes it's just methane rising from the murky swamp floor from long burried decaying organic matter. So yeah, it would cause bubbling or perhaps fog in extreme circumstances, but how could one ever use it as an excuse for floating lights or things in the sky? I'm sure it could be ignited somehow, but wouldn't that result in more of an explosion rather than "glowing" fog? I dunno, something I've always wondered about.

So, I'm still mulling over something a friend told me they saw a couple months ago. He and his son saw a huge hunk of metal floating through the sky, and it had wires and cables and junk hanging from it like it was ripped off a larger piece of metal. He said it was kind of square shaped. While this occurred, the radio in the car stopped working, and when they tried to take video with a phone, the "UFO" did now show up on the phone, but you can hear their voices and everything on the recording. It did not show up in pictures either. It creeped me out, and I was bummed they didn't have any footage of it. I would like to have seen it. He drew pictures of it, it was unlike anything I could even have imagined. It really had me curious.

You never really hear about battle damaged or malnfuctioning sort of sightings. How far away from it did they say they were? It'd be interesting to check out the area to see if anything may have dropped off of this thing.

I hadn't heard of anything like it before, either. It was above the road they were traveling on. I'd have to ask where.
