I had to end up playing just the SNES version because I had some issues getting the Genesis version to work but I feel I still got a good taste of the game. Just as I was hoping by the title the game doesn't take itself to seriously and has a good sense of humor. Babies with hatchets trying to kill you? Yeah, that made me laugh. The graphics while nothing amazing where certainly good and fit the style of game well. Had no issues with controls that I can recall. I think the fact I didn't play this as a kid hurt it more than anything, I had a hard time wanting to keep playing the game and after I put it down I've had no desire to pick it back up again. Not a bad game by any means and just from a first impression I would give it a high 3.75 out of 5.

I loved it as a kid. Played it co-op a lot with the neighbor.

I loved it as a kid. Played it co-op a lot with the neighbor. That's the key with this game. I played it by myself for a bit this evening and I find that it was meant to be a 2 player experience, I just wasn't compelled to keep going by myself. It's just a hilarious game to play with your buddies.

I wanna say I remember it being easier (as long as your partner wasn't an idiot) with 2. Like the enemies were the same 1 or 2 player lol

Is there a difference between the SNES and Genesis version? I saw someone talking about it on instagram the other day, but I don't recall any differences

I think the Genesis version has a mini-map but the SNES version has a Bazooka? Anybody else know of any more?

The core gameplay between the two versions is pretty much identical, but there are some differences between the two that might sway you either way.
On SNES you have to manually bring up the map/radar with a button press and your stats are along the top of the screen while on the Genesis everything is placed in a side bar. The plus for the Genesis is that your radar is always displayed and not in the way of the gameplay, however the plus for the SNES version is that it has a wider aspect ratio due to the stats being at the top.
While the music in this game isn't really memorable, it does sound a lot better on the SNES. The Genesis version's music was just a lazy port if you ask me, because there isn't really any music in there that the Genesis couldn't produce. In fact, this is one game on the SNES where I think the music sounds Genesis-y (ish?). I think it was just a lazy port.
So there you have it, my shocking support of an SNES port over a Genesis one haha. It's mostly superficial stuff though as I said the games pretty much play exactly the same.

The snes one certainly does look prettier without the big bar at the side. Genesis has a darker vibe (colourwise) which suits the game a bit more though.

That and I think the Genesis had better multiplayer appeal. When I reflect on growing up with both consoles it seems like all the multiplayer action went down on the Genesis. On SNES I couldn't really get anyone to play anything with me besides Street Fighter, Mario Kart, and I had one friend that would play Secret of Mana with me.
