Anyone here use chipped systems? I have a chipped Saturn although the laser is on the way out. Pretty sure I will be selling off most of my CD based games soon apart from things like Xbox/PS3 and go strictly burnt CD route for a variety of reasons that I wont bore you all with (90's disc based systems are just the worst). Still debating if i'll put my cartridge collecting on hold/sell and go down the everdrive/flashcart route. Starting to feel like they are just a better investment for me personally... apart from N64 and Neo Geo stuff I have pretty much every mainstream system and for the price of a few decent games I can pick up an everdrive for each one and play them all to my hearts content. Now if only Krikzz would make a Neo Geo AES everdrive I would run out and pawn off all my furniture to buy one of dem sweet sweet AES'. I want to chip my Saturn and I've been told that it's "easy" to do, but I have very little experience soldering. I'll bet I haven't touched an iron since high school. Did you do it yourself or did you commission someone to do it for you?

I got one of them Neo Geo X replica handheld/console thingies. It's pretty rad. The joystick is very accurately reproduced. Does it have that nice clicky feel to it? I've heard great things but I've yet to see one in person to experiment for myself. Have you tried displaying it on your tv yet?

Did you do it yourself or did you commission someone to do it for you? The mod chip I used is still easy to get and is probably the most common one in todays market (I think its around 30 bucks US). There is only one part to solder and its very simple. Basically a wire between the chip itself to one of the 5v header pins and the only way you could screw it up would be if you dropped the iron into the system or soldered it to the wrong pin. One thing I did mess up was I used cheap CD-R's and my laser wouldnt read them at all hardly so I thought the chip wasnt working... I then tried adjusting the laser strength (by turning the potentiometer attached to the laser) and ended up burning it out. Lesson learnt was don't use cheap discs from Best Buy or Staples to play back up games - go for good ones like Taiyo Yuden.

Both the big replica joystick clicks perfectly and the little stubby joystick on the handheld itself is delightfully clicky. On the tv the hdmi didn't look right so regular AV worked fine. There's a pack of additional games I haven't bought that comes with a software update that supposedly clears up the hdmi issue.

Bumping this thread because I now have an EverDrive for my Genesis! Went with Stone Age Gamer since they offer support if I have any problems down the road and I can't be happier with my purchase. I actually compared a few physical copies of games with the Roms and there is absolutely no difference that I can tell whatsoever. Not that I expected there to be any but guess I just thought it might be too good to be true, lol. I highly recommend getting one if you still put a lot of time on your Genesis. I'm still going to be collecting for the system but now I can play games I'm curious about before a physical purchase. I'll post some pics later.

I'm not really sure how the Saturn cart slot works but if someone put the time into making an EverDrive (if it's even possible) for the Saturn I would buy that shit in a heartbeat.

I think it would have helped the Saturn tremendously if they would have just made that slot a Sega Genesis slot somehow and enabled backward compatibility. You could also have the memory card functionality as well in the form of a Genesis cart. But eh, what do I know? Sega of Japan were completely uninterested in the Mega Drive at that point even though it had runaway success outside of Japan.
