Any fans of Sony's handhelds? I'm sure most of you had or still have a PSP but how about the under used Vita? I love both of these powerful (at the time anyway) little suckers and have decided to start collecting a few things for the PSP since most of the library is cheap and it does have quite a few really good exclusive games. Any suggestions on what I should pick up?

I love both of these powerful (at the time anyway) little suckers and have decided to start collecting a few things for the PSP since most of the library is cheap and it does have quite a few really good exclusive games. Any suggestions on what I should pick up? Seems like the perfect time to get into the PSP to be honest (games are super cheap). I have a soft modded PSP so always just played ISO files from a memory card but its probably my favourite handheld just because of the superb emulators and the power it had at the time. Not that it would mean much to you Americans but my most played game on it was Brian Lara 2007 Pressure Play (its a cricket game) Also I love virtual pinball so the Gottlieb Collection got a lot of play too: The absolute best best best game on the system that Id recommend to anyone all day everyday is the crazily titled 'Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman! What Did I Do To Deserve This?': Its a basebuilder where you play the bad guy (badman) and you dig deep into the ground and lay traps and grow monsters to defend you from the heroes who come and try and capture the evil badman. Its one of those games thats simple to play but takes experience to master. It also had a good sequel ('What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord 2?') that added multiple worlds but made growing and evolving the monsters a little more complex than was quite to my liking. Some other games that I can think of worth mentioning: Patapon (rhythm strategy), Star Wars Battlefront (3rd person shooter), Lumines (puzzle), Outrun 2006 (you already know its gold ), Fat Princess (top down base defense). Also I've never played it but there is a Sonic game that was exclusive to the PSP that you could probably track down pretty easily. But seriously if you like god games get HIOPB!WDIDTDT?.

Thanks for the game suggestions! I might actually get OutRun 2006 for the PSP since the Xbox version is really expensive. I had the Gottlieb collection in the past, great pinball game. Since I have Pinball Arcade on my PS4 now not sure if I need to pursue it again but who knows, lol. Here is a game I bought NIB for $8! It has Puzzle Fighter, 3 different Buster Bros games and Block Block which is believe it or not a decent version of brick out.

I love mine because it's a fantastic portable Sega Genesis player haha.
In all seriousness though, there are some hidden gems to be discovered. I played the hell out of Phantasy Star Portable 2 as well as Capcom's Mega Man releases for it.
Has anyone noticed their UMDs beginning to kind of fall apart? This hasn't been the case with my own collection of games that I've kept in the box, but whenever I see loose UMDs in the wild it seems like the glue that holds the plastic shell has dissolved and they just fall apart. Are we getting close to the expiration date for whatever kind of glue they used on those things?

People break them apart but they never go back together the same again. I have a game like that, if I hold it together and get it into the UMD drive it works fine but looks like shit, lol

I found a UMD that has completely fallen apart that I had never tampered with.

I guess they think they could clean the disc better? I've never had any trouble cleaning them myself. Yeah, it's a little annoying to wiggle the middle part to get the disc to rotate but it gets the job done.
So I spent $5 on the PSP Video cable and I would suggest picking them up if you play your PSP a lot. It displays in a little box but you can adjust it if your into stretched displays, lol. Think I read that it displays in 525p? Something strange like that. One thing I want to mention is when playing a UMD Movie it is displayed full screen (16:9) the picture is only shrunk down when playing games. I'm guessing so everything doesn't look shit.

I snagged one of those cables myself a few years ago. Yeah I could never gwt the games to display full screen but it was still a massive size improvement over the psp screen itself. I used it to play Phantasy Star Portable 2 mostly.

I've been thinking a lot about picking up either a Vita or a New 3DS..... blah I really shouldn't though. I don't need either.

I've debated getting a Vita. I don't know that I need one since I mostly wanted it for FFX HD, and I have that on PS3 now. So I'm still debating.
As for PSP, there are so many good games out there. There are some Darkstalkers and Guilty Gears games out there that will wreck your thumbs, but they're a lot of fun. Star Ocean: First Departure and Star Ocean: Second Evolution are great RPG's, and Capcom Puzzle World is good (it has Puzzle Fighter!!) if you haven't played any of those before. Lunar (RPG) is pretty decent RPG, as well.
