That's a great idea! I bet the old VHS cabinets would even hold boxed games!

I hadn't thought of the VHS cabinets but I do know that those cassette tape drawers do hold loose Genesis games and sometimes even SNES games too. I want to say I read somewhere that a company that previously made those drawers released them as "gaming" cabinets in the early 90's and would just slap a Sega sticker or something.
Another tip if any of you have loose gameboy games. Those clear acrylic audio cassette cases are great cases for original gameboy games too. If you break off just one of the tabs on the inside the other tab is at the right position to hold the game in place. Someone also made a template for making your own covers to slip inside of the cases too.

I'm on the lookout for hookups and a power adapter for the Sega CD I bought recently. And I'm also having problems with my Wii shutting itself off unexpectedly. I've bought a new adapter for it, so I'm going to try that out. If that doesn't pan out, I'll be posting about it again, lol.

I've heard that some of the 3rd party ones get kind of funny after so many years.

But I found a lady selling a Wii for $20 with a lot of extras a while back, so at least I have a backup of some sort no matter what, it works great! But I still want my original one to be in working order, I'm going to set it up in another room here. But I may need to keep an eye out for a Nintendo power supply, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

Yeah at least Wii's are still dirt cheap in case the power supply doesn't solve the problem.

True retro games are in such high demand that now's a good time to pick up Wii and PS2 games, I've picked up some nice PS2 games for a little over $1 a piece recently! Just gotta be on the lookout for what other people aren't interested in, lol. This makes it a good time to look for parts and accessories for such systems, as well.

I should start working on my Gamecube and PS2 collection more before those get outrageous in a few years.

You guys may be aware of this already but some games in the Genesis/MegaDrive library have trouble with the 6-button controller. Mrs. Pac Man, Golden Axe 2 and Road Avenger are a few that I've noticed myself. I just learned today that if you hold down the 'Mode' button on your 6-button controller while booting up the console it actual corrects this problem in most of the games! It's not 100%, some games still will not work but I can confirm that Golden Axe 2 will work just fine using this Pro Tip. You guys ever used this trick? What are some other games that have trouble with the 6-button controller?

I have a Model 1 Genesis which just doesnt power on no matter what. I cracked this bad boy open and the capacitors dont look bad and no other obvious damage. Anyone ever have any problems like this before?
Could it be a hidden fuse somewhere or the voltage regulators are fried? It would just be another spare but its a 'high definition' model with a non-TMSS VA1 version motherboard so I really dont wanna consign any of these to the scrap heap given their awesome sound output.

I know this is probably a stupid question but have you tried using a different adapter?

I know this is probably a stupid question but have you tried using a different adapter? yeah its definately the system. I got it in an ebay lot of ex rental shop gear (a few systems, some controllers and a sweet carry case) so I knew it was likely bust. I was just planning on stripping it for some of the more useful components but when I saw it was a non-tmss I wanted to bring it back to life. Oh well some day I will figure it out Im sure.

Have you opened it up and inspected around where you plug in the adapter to the system? Notice any spaces in solder in that area? I know a lot of people have had to solder that area with their model 2's just shooting in the dark here but maybe you noticed something in that area.
